Norms on care of Covid-hit kids out

NEW DELHI: The Centre has issued guidelines for the care and protection of children affected by Covid-19 and listed out the responsibilities of all concerned authorities from the state, district to the panchayat level.

States have been asked to identify children in distress through outreach and surveys. The authorities have also been tasked to create a database with profile of each child along with the details of their specific needs and requirements in the letter to the chief secretaries by women and child development ministry, secretary, Ram Mohan Mishra.

States have been told the data of children should be kept secure by the authorities and confidentiality about their identities should be maintained, as prescribed under the JJ Act, 2015. The states have been asked to ensure that the data of every child is uploaded on Track Child Portal of Government of India.

The role and responsibilities of the primary duty holders to enable better on ground coordination have been fixed in the letter from the Centre.

For emergency care, states have been asked to give directions hospitals to collect contact details of trustworthy person of the patient in the hospital admission form itself so that they can be to be contacted for taking care of children in case of any eventuality.
